We should be trying new things in games to enable learning

not defending annoying things as "that's just the way it is"

Barks are a known quantity, they're obviously expository in nature which is a quality I thought we all agreed wasn't v good

I defo see why I don't like AAA games more nowadays 😅

Big agree, it doesn't feel like it should be shocking to say that people don't like this stuff

I don't get the defensive-ness around it, imo overt tutorialisation is always a design failure.

I understand why it exists, I've put it in a game and will do it again I'm sure, but it's not good

The fact is if you make this I will buy it and play it, it's already so up my street based on the visuals and camera perspective!

How could someone make this not seeing that they're the bad guy?!

How long before you have pay a subscription to keep 6 generations of your family alive in the cloud?!

Insanity

Also, since it's a lot of score and economy design, I'm learning a huge amount relevant to combat design

Not to mention it's about 95% UI / UX so it feels like I'm taking a course on them, which will be useful for every future game!

Arcadey roguelikes are defo as fun to make as I imagined (I understand why every indie under every sun has made one now 😂)

You take a bit of an aura loss making one, but I think there's still a lot of meaningful design choices you can make within them

but then you'd end up with 5 things when you get the item that allows another option! 5 is way too many

same! I upgraded a few months ago after using 2020 for a few years and it got sooo much worse, I stayed for a few things like the new UI but it's a massive drop in quality with a host of AI stuff I had to root out to disable.

It's really sad to see a company who made something great lose their way

I'm at a point where I've lost interest in games that don't use genAI but the devs have said they're "looking into it".

I do hope we at least manage to get accurate labelling of games that do use it, I honestly think a lot of people won't mind and devs should be proud of how they make their game.

This looks incredible! I love everything you've done with the ui!

It's defo possible, but could be that if you see it in the cinema you didn't get a netflix sub to watch it, they only fund movies to get people subscribed.

I miss cinemas feeling like "the" place to see awesome new films

It's honestly so hard to not balloon the game! Especially with something like Wanderlust where you've clearly been adding ideas at such a high quality that the game gets better and better.

Next game defo gonna be small tho, gonna target like 10 mins of game around a cool idea to just get better

I love how much form you add with outlines of different shades

I am really happy with all the stuff I've been learning by making Wunder tho, numbers design is very fun

Offt, I lost many days to ladders on Echo 😅, I though just having a collider at the top that turns off when you climb down would be fine... I ended up with 3 colliders in total, 2 of them being triggers to handle mounting in different ways

It always makes me so happy to see more city of none!
