Jeans, a hoodie, and sneakers are appropriate for traveling and can look nice! I don’t think Tom is arguing that we all wear formal business attire - just regular clothes that are clean and made for wearing in public.

Idk where ppl shop, but even Walmart and TJ Maxx sell clothes that are comfortable, while not being pajamas or sweats.
Knit pants, knit solid tee w/a pullover or cardigan sweater is a comfy flight outfit. They make dressier knit pants for men, too.
But jeans and khakis can be just as comfy tbh.

Some of my relatives are poor - technically under the poverty level.
They’ve never flown anywhere - can’t afford it. Hell, I don’t think they drive to a vacation, or even take one.

They do, however, own a nice outfit. Maybe two. They don’t live in pjs.
Walmart and thrift stores exist.

Poors do not fly on airplanes. It’s still too expensive for them.
(Although many middle-class ppl in US like to pretend they’re poor while they do things like buy airline tickets).

And the poors I know, if they could fly, would see it as a luxury and wear their best clothes for it.

Every eligible voter can step forward on Election Day.
We can encourage others to join us.

Right, they do! Have to wonder what most of them think of this.

Chicagoans would never forgive Johnson for such a thing.
Johnson wouldn’t ever consider it, though, I think.

Think they may be using each other.

I just find it distasteful on M’s part.

If that’s Mamdani’s thinking, I personally think he is mistaken for trusting Trump..
But I do get why he’d think it and make the effort to appease.

I live very near Chicago, in a suburb heavily populated w/recent immigrants. And-
Obama lived here..
Trump/MAGA are bitter re Chicago, Obama, and immigrants.
So we’ve been bearing the brunt of T’s grievances these past few months, and still are.
Maybe M thinks he can relieve NYC some of that?
November 22, 2025 at 3:13 AM
But Mamdani himself has been targeted and scapegoated by MAGA and Trump.
And Trump is childishly spiteful.
He knows New Yorkers hate him. But if the mayor-elect is willing to meet him, well.. T could temper his views on getting back at NYC.
It’s Mamdani job to help make NYers lives easier..

I don’t think it helped her image for anyone outside Michigan, agree.

I can see the advantage, actually.
Trump is easily flattered and it benefits NYC, its citizens and its leadership to schmooze Trump a little.

Personally, I don’t like it either. And it makes Mamdani look bad imo.
But I kinda get why he did it.

I get why Whitmer met with him, too.

Tix for his upcoming Chicago concerts are that much, or more, for nosebleed seats.
I love Macca, but I just cannot. I would for front rows, but those are in the thousands. It’s ridiculous.

But I did pay $200+ to see Ringo Starr in Sept at Chicago Theatre. But we had great seats in a small venue.
