European mantis (Mantis religiosa)

The European mantis (Mantis religiosa) has naturalized here in Washington state and can be seen in brown and green coloration. The males have larger eyes and longer antenna than the females, and only they can fly. So this is a green male looking towards the camera in the grass of our hayfield this past summer.
