I feel at home

⚠️ I am really excited to share the work of Anastasios Balaskas, an excellent PhD candidate in the lab, with the wider world. Tasos made a significant advance: generating a stem cell-based embryo model that contains both posterior and anterior neural tissues of the late-stage gastrulating embryo.

The awesome Helene Kretzmer and I are looking to recruit a join computational PhD student. Applications will be evaluated on a rolling basis, so don't wait! Any questions get in touch. We are looking forward.

Dear Berlin!

Lab move day I take-home message: move your lab every few years to rediscover all the hidden treasures and (try to) get reagents under control. New neighbors @matthewkraushar.bsky.social can only mean new collaborations. On government-supported grants! (US colleagues hang in there)

Happy 2025 everyone! Last year was a very eventful year for our lab, with 3 graduations, 1 baby, multiple publications, many interactions, seminars and conferences. We are joined by 3 new lab members in January. Senior members are moving to new positions. This is the year the lab truly becomes 2.0.

What’s better than a Christmas experiment is to find the precious material with a precious note 😊
