Two weeks ago, we warned that the NHS was taking a huge gamble with the nation's health by restricting Covid boosters to such a small group. We said that only time will tell whether that gamble would pay off. As the headline below shows, hospitals and GP surgeries are already under extreme pressure.

According to a statement by the British Euthanasia Society, assisted suicide 'safe zones' within hospitals and care homes will appear if Kim Leadbeater’s Bill becomes law, so that patients will know where the NHS will try to persuade them to die, and where they won't. Oh brave new world...

The judiciary has to be independent of politicians, otherwise it is not a judiciary at all. Judges defend disabled people's rights against Government every day. Politicians demanding the right to hand-pick judges is anti-democratic and erodes everyone's essential freedoms.

People are right to be angry. It is absolutely shameful that the Government have restricted Covid boosters to such a small group. This is a huge gamble with the nation's health purely to save money. Here is how their argument runs: a thread 🧵

We know many people look out for our weekly Covid risk assessment post, so here's a quick update.

Unfortunately, the publication of the data we primarily use for our risk assessments has been delayed. We therefore cannot produce a risk assessment this week, but we will resume as soon as possible.

Only a brief Covid update this week due to late data publication: Covid infection levels in England have not substantially changed, and remain at historically lower levels. Full update next week as usual.

314 MPs should be bitterly ashamed of themselves today. Passing the #AssistedDyingBill, which presents such a clear danger to disabled and vulnerable people, and is medically considered to be unsound, is a shocking dereliction of their duty to their constituents.
June 20, 2025 at 2:35 PM
The House of Commons has betrayed the interests of disabled people by voting through the #AssistedDyingBill. Such a narrow majority as 314 to 291 shows there is no consensus about this issue. We will continue to fight in the Lords, inside Whitehall, and in the NHS.

We were horrified to see that one of our regular sources of information, the PubMed site, has simply vanished. What an act of extraordinary scientific and academic vandalism.

Good to see Kim Leadbeater sees the funny side of legalising assisted suicide.

On Holocaust Memorial Day, we remember all the victims of German eugenic policy, including the hundreds of thousands of disabled people who were murdered, sterilised, and confined in the name of racial purity. There's never been a better time to vow 'Never again'.

Deaths from alcohol abuse are a record highs in England - 8200 fatalities in 2023. Should something be done using public health measures to reduce these preventable deaths? A thread 🧵
