I'm glad he's in his "fuck everything I'm building WW1 biplanes because I can" era. It was hard to watch him stressed out of his mind over the whole Hobbit bullshit.

This has nothing to do with writing. This is the way vague memories of random Friends moments haunt the back of your mind while you're half asleep. It's Friends only if you look at it out of the corner of the eye while doing three other things. AI can't do better than that.

A lot of the optimism that kept me going in my early life came from ST: The Next Generation. What has happened in ST since is mirroring the dread we feel about the evil tech advances are bringing, instead of looking for ways to rekindle that optimism. Maybe we do need Trek as it was, once, long ago.
