I simply meant that they both have the habit of interrupting their sweeping epic that requires so many words already to describe an aesthetic. G.R.R Martin does it too with descriptions of food. Seems like a common issue.

I like to think of her like Tolkien. There is a epic tale to be told but for some reasonthere are 10 pages about how the trees looked, except instead of trees it is sadness.

Sometimes the poetry of her writing hits and it is wonderful. But then you get to Queen of the Damned where literally nothing happens in the entire middle of that massive book and I started to question if I knew how to read still.

I understand the protagonist problem, where the main character is bad but you sympathise with them because you spend time with them. But seeing Alex Jones constantly say he is the empire in Star Wars, when he claims to fight evil empires is still baffling.
