MLB teams value players differently than people might expect. The Pirates could have made moves for Lowe or Naylor. Both would have cost less than Horwitz. They didn’t. They value cost and control. Horwitz has upside. Let’s see what he can do. #LetsGoBucs

Personally, I’d rather have Horwitz. More control (Naylor is a rental), costs less, 1.9 fWAR in less games than it took Naylor to hit 2.3, higher wRC+ (127 vs 118). I’m not gonna lose sleep over him going elsewhere. Ben still needs to go after an outfielder. #LetsGoBucs

MLB offseasons are boring unless your team is one of the top 5 in revenue generation, and even then, the offseason might be boring. For Pirates fans, it's worse, as the big signing is usually some random bounce-back candidate or a good platoon partner. Here's to hoping for more.
