‘All you need in this life is ignorance and confidence, and then success is sure.’ – Mark Twain
The weather is looking good for the visit of the English 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 international cricket team (v West Indies) in Cardiff today. As a neutral I hope it’s a good (tight finish) match unlike the 1st one the other night

The more historical books I read the more the invisibility of Wales and its people become apparent. Wellington’s army contained 4% Welsh personnel (Welsh pop. of GB & Ire in 1810 = 4.24%). Reading this book Wales is invisible

After seeing all the depressing news regarding the council / mayor election results and the stuff from “over the pond”, I decided to put the Gower live webcam on instead. This is Llangenydd / Rhosilli bay right now. Much better

The geo-political map of Europe in 1811/12 and if you are Welsh it does always feel as if we were (remain) invisible to events, cartographers and many historians

I love plants and flowers and a great reward is seeing this “fella” filling his boots. I’m going to keep planting for me, for them and for the grandkids (future 🤞)

Currently reading this book and it highlights this photo op and all the other amateurish, shambolic, lack of U.K. planning etc that made a terrible decision to leave the EU a thousand times worse.

Yes that Brexit referendum was a crazy moment in our history but you’d have imagined that politicians would have had the rudiments of a plan for that unfortunate result. Then you read this book and it’s confirmed….the mess was all encompassing

I used to read this book to my children when they were little. So Peter Cross & Peter Dallas-Smith were way ahead of their time

Soon Big Nige and his gang will be hitching up their wagon train and heading due west in readiness to teach us Welsh folk how to be part of his territory in next years Senedd ho down. Time to saddle up and get outa Dodge

And here’s my proof if it was ever needed

And of course there’s Rhosilli / Llangynydd (Llangennith). Just see Worms Head (left). Broughton and Llanmadoc bays to the right of this pic. We are indeed blessed to have the Gower (especially right now when it’s quiet)

For those of us who have football teams with nothing, except pride to play for this season ….a gentle reminder that the cricket county championship starts in just 20 days time. Now where are those flannels, sweaters and snoods

My grandson went surfing in Caswell Bay, Gower this morning. Unfortunately the waves were tiny but the weather was perfect and Caswell was its usual stunning self. It is and always will be, my favourite place

If that’s the case “Will I emigrate? There’s a good chance”

YTD makes that look positive

I recently read this book on this very subject. It was interesting and frustrating in equal measure

Yet another brexity bonus for us all (even us those non Brexiteers)…. plants, shrubs etc now need a passport apparently. Passports must generate more time and cost.

Once a Jack, always a Jack as the old saying goes but sometimes it really is an uphill struggle. Head up “a ymlaen” (onward)

It’s like Groundhog Day with the Swans. It’s not just that transfer windows are poorly managed (understatement) but they then promise to do better next time but only repeat the nonsense on repeat. So you reach the point where post transfer deadline statements are just noise
