They were not independent judges. They were Frey donors.

It wasn't fraudulent, not even the Frey campaign (besides a swiftly deleted tweet by Darwin Forsyth) claimed that there was fraud. The person who built the voting system had a stroke and so the less experienced people who took over made some mistakes. Davis got eliminated early but he wasn't winning

What cost him the endorsement was a committee of Frey's donors deciding to point to minor errors that were made which had no bearing on the result to justify removing the endorsement. Three of the four things you mention are about the endorsement. He is not under investigation for fraud.

For the record, none of this is true.

There was a whole leak from his PAC's strategy meeting where they laid out that the PAC was going to whip up anti-Somali sentiment against Fateh in order to keep Jacob from having to get in that muck and sadly it seems to have worked a charm.

He is extremely corrupt, with several of his staffers being outright convicted of fraud. The reason he has so many PACs is so that he can dissolve them before more robust reporting of where his donos come from kick in.

He absolutely did run on xenophobia, he constantly uses his control of city services to retaliate against wards whose council members disagree with him and he is effectively endorsed by the people who back Musk and Trump, with 28% of his donors being Republicans

You think it's more "majority rule" when Frey gets to be mayor with 40% of the vote?

Using ranked choice so multiple candidates can oppose the incumbent together instead of having to decide who should drop out to avoid splitting the vote is exactly what ranked choice is for

If you consider that there were two Dems in the race, Dems got 90% of the vote in NYC actually.

Basically Frey is the candidate for the GOP and the rightmost flank of the Democrats. He is corrupt and loves to abuse city services to retaliate against council members who don't fall in line. Because the city uses ranked choice the anti-Frey Dems don't consolidate into one candidate.

I mean, Jacob Frey is allied with the Republican party, 28% of his donors are Republicans, so if he does win it is effectively a Republican controlled seat

Frey got about the same vote share he did last election in the first rank and we're waiting to see if the Don't Rank Frey campaign is going to get enough transfers between the candidates in 2-4 positions to knock him out of office. That will require the vast majority of votes to go to Fateh
