Now that we've reached the end of the first survey season, make sure you enter your data by 21st September in order to be included in this year’s analysis! 5/ The long term decline in #Curlew numbers continues across the country, with a 76% decline between 1995 and 2023. There has also been a 43% decline over the last decade in Wales.

4/ Rook has declined by 50% in Wales over the last 30 years. But, there are some signs that this species is increasing, which is an encouraging sign. The All Wales Rook Survey has helped us to increase our understanding of this species in Wales: birdsin.wales/rook-survey/ @birdsinwales.bsky.social

3/ Unlike some other parts of the UK and especially England, House Sparrow has increased in recent times. It has almost doubled in population across Wales over the last 30 years.

2/ The striking Great Spotted Woodpecker has increased significantly across Wales since the mid-1990s, with a 243% increase documented. This species has also increased by a further 20% in the last 10 years.
