I don't think I'll have much else to say about this project, as I think I exhausted what I wanted to say (and it's very late for me). I'll just leave those interested with a few more images, and then a link to both the image folder (free to use with credit) and the final video I made.

By this point, I had been making a model a day, every day, at the very least. My workflow was practiced, and I think it also helped me see the in game references as concept art for my model, like how someone else can give direction in game design for larger projects.

Overall the project took me a year and a half, and allowed me to go into college with the full understanding that I had taught myself to 3D model, and that probably made it much much easier to learn in my classes right away. Such a fun experience

Because I was making sure all the enemies are to scale, it would allow for total accuracy of future work, especially if I were to put many models in a single render together. It really makes me want to put something like an interactive database of 3D entries together.

I think I really hit my flow around 40%(?) into the project, when I made the fungal enemies. Super fun and very diverse models.

My workflow involved using the source art from the game and making sure the model was to scale with the main character reference.

The use of transparency grew, leading to some creative solutions to match the design of existing characters. Also, I began to work with the background and floor of the dioramas to match in game environments.

As the enemies progressed, so did my toolset and workflow. I began finding tutorials and used sculpting tools to make specific details, though still had a fairly high poly count. Glowing/transparent/emissive materials became something I worked with extensively.

I'm separating the posts by the order I made them, but you can see everything from the project in a link at the end of the thread.

When I started, it was very rudimentary. Models were pixely or way too complex (Millions of faces 😅). Thankfully, the enemies start simple in the game too.

Hollow Knight 3D Models - A🧵

Years ago I worked on a project where I made all of the Hunters Journal enemies into Blender, and it was wild. I literally did this to teach myself Blender, so the process gets better as I go.

Wanted to talk about it a lot on here :)

The Blade of Horizons - Art for a legendary relic in my D&D campaign. It's used to cross the planes and defend the material plane from outside threats.

The stats are an altered Sword of the Planes, giving some spells to cast daily as an action.

Artwork I made of a future character for a friend's campaign. He's not fully developed yet but I really love the idea I have and made this when I was in an angsty place. Really loved the lineless art style, I need to do that way more.

Wanted to post some frames from the recent animatic I did, I really liked getting the compositions and colors to really pop but not be too overwhelming. Loved working with the lighter tones.
