Success from the Guides' Choice Hares Ear tonight. Amazed how well a sz 14 klink works as an indicator and can easily float a weighted & beaded sz 16 nymph.

First trout of the year, on a brook I hadn't fished before today. 15 days earlier than my first trout last year. Took a sz 14 prince nymph tied this winter.

Realized today that the only "true" dry flies I tied this winter are Elk Hair Caddis, Para-Adams, and Stimulators 👀 Everything else is a foam hopper or an emerger.
Should I tie up any other "true" dries?

Messing with ideas to get the leg 'effect' on hoppers/chubbies without rubber legs. This was a sloppy concept tie, but what does everyone think of the use of soft hackle? Does make it hard to hide the foam/wing tie down points but that can be worked on #flytying
