This Senate democrats moment is reminiscent of the time David Miller gave into the sanitation worker strikers, despite the majority of Torontonians backing him up.

This!
Did you know that in Canada, if a budget doesn’t pass the government doesn’t shut down?

Federal workers aren’t furloughed.

Funding for social services doesn’t dry up.

Failure to pass a budget triggers an election.

It puts the politicians jobs on the line.

They get the budget passed.

When you are a @qantas-official.bsky.social bronze level member these are the seats they assign you? Are the silver in the toilets?

Its Election Day here in Australia and even though I can’t vote I’m going to get a democracy sausage. An Australia tradition we hear. democracysausage.org
Democracy Sausage
A real-time crowd-sourced map of sausage and cake availability at Australian elections. It's practically part of the Australian Constitution. Or something. #demsausage

Donald Trump has committed the most profound, harmful and unnecessary economic error in the modern era. Almost everything he said—on history, economics and the technicalities of trade—was utterly deluded econ.st/3YbbFjq

For all you wannabe lawyers in the US. Is there an actual legal system you can study?

I’m not suggesting actually doing this, but wouldn’t it be a good time to rob a federal bank in the US? I mean who is going to pursue you?

From The Angus Reid Institute: Mark Carney draws voters from the whole spectrum, pulls LPC upwards into statistical tie with Poilievre's Conservatives.

If you are American, is there any point in filing your taxes this year? The IRS will be so stripped clean that no one is going to follow up.

I don't understand why there hasn't been a bank run yet. It's gonna happen. Banks keep their funds in the US Treasury. If that defaults all US banks could go under.
Not a drill. Trump and Musk could cause a global financial crisis even before we face another potential one with the debt ceiling
For those not familiar with how financial markets work, US Treasuries are the ultimate safe asset, used as collateral for everything. Even a hint that some Treasuries might not be honored could bring everything to a screeching halt 1/

It's only my 4th flight with them but @qantas-official.bsky.social is by far the best airline i have ever flown on.

One of the next stops for Elon and the Trump team will be the FEC. That'll be the end of democracy in the USA (although it's probably done already).

Has @fetterman.senate.gov just come out and asked for Genocide yet? Or is he keeping that talk for later.

Can someone tell me why there hasn't been a bank run yet? The treasury has been breached. It holds a ton of standard banking funds and they may never see it again.

I would seriously not take a flight within the US right now. There's going to be more incidents for sure.
