Democrats running for office in red states in the middle of the country should be mocking the Republican War on Windmills. Might seem like a fringe issue to some, but it is a pocketbook issue when people are being hit with higher electric bills.

Interesting that the farming-dependent rural counties have a lot of overlap with population loss counties.

Yep. Nothing but GOP talking points from Secretary of Ag Rollins. "We're making Agriculture Great Again by protecting 2 million farmers from the 'death tax.'" Longtime GOP bs. USDA ERS says only 0.3% (that's 3/1000th--the wealthiest farmers) had estate tax liability in 2024.

I agree with Trump on one thing: taxing Ivy League/elite schools' excessive endowments. Democrats should join the fray and offer a bill to suggest that every school with over $20 billion in endowment funds lose their tax exempt status. (Note the last school on the list--Trump's alma mater)

For all of those trying to "set the record straight" on the Trump Trade War/Tariff disaster, a friendly reminder that Mexico and Canada are the top 2 U.S. trade partners. China is huge, but is #3. 2024 data from the Census Bureau:

So Trump just decided to "pause" reciprocal tariffs above the 10% baseline tariff rate for 90 days. Includes most countries (probably), but not China. China will face 125% tariffs. Trump is attributing the pause to interest in trade deals from many countries. Chaos. Craziness. Lack of a plan, etc.

Secretary of Agriculture Rollins directs U.S. Forest Service to expedite timber harvest on 113,000,000 acres of public land. Good writeup from @georginagustin.bsky.social @insideclimatenews.org.

Here's where U.S. agricultural exports go across the world in map form:

And here's where those exports go:

The U.S. does export a lot of soybeans and corn, plus other things:

And this is where the U.S. gets its food imports. Primarily fruit and veg from Mexico, wine and specialty foods from the EU, and grain and livestock from Canada.

Some charts and maps to understand U.S. agricultural trade. For instance, despite constant "we feed the world" rhetoric, the U.S. is a net importer of food.
