Two people on my team think it’s gonna solve all problems and I’m like, dude, it’s Synapse wrapped in a Power BI interface with a crappier version of Unity Catalog. It’s not even remotely original. It’ll be rebranded within 5 years

Which one?? 😂 they both say they’re the money saver if you talk to a sales rep. Which my executives did 🤦‍♂️

That’s the appeal, now that were rebranded as part of an AI and automation team. But my data team is still focused on engineering pipelines and defining data models first. I think Unity Catalog is the real game changer for us, and I’ve yet to see Snowflake or Fabric look better 🤷‍♂️

Definitely not obvious! The IN operator requires a record set. This can be a list of values (implicit VALUES statement there) or a nested query. So we have to expand the JSON list into a record set using UNNEST, basically. In SQL Server (my stack), it’s very cumbersome syntax like a lateral join 😩

Are the results validated? Like, remove some data, have it fill it, compare. I’d be interested to see how well it works

I used to do this, too. Everything fit into my cloud storage account and I’d upgrade to the latest Linux Mint xfce. Keep it light. Keep it clean. 😂
