Thanks for reminding m that I am still furious that Uber was able to buy their own regulation. Funny, they said if they had to pay drivers as employees, fares would go up 25-100% They won, and fares were up 50% 2 years later.

In the 80s I lived somewhere with pretty strict smog laws and a yearly test and inspection, so there was not much you could do with them.
Also, radar detectors were illegal and the state troopers actually had Grand Nationals
