Magnificent Burt Lancaster was BOTD (actually yesterday) in 1913 & died in 1994 at 80. He starred in Luchino Visconti's "The Leopard" (1963) & "Conversation Piece" (1974) playing a reclusive professor who comes to terms w/ his latent homosexuality. Brave for someone so closeted!

The great supergay Italian film director Luchino Visconti was BOTD (actually yesterday) in 1906 & died in 1976 at 69. He was openly gay & throughout his life had relationships w/ collaborators such as actor Helmut Berger (whom he cast in “The Damned“ (1969)) & Franco Zeffirelli

HBD Lee Grant, who turns either 98 or 100 today! She's not just an Oscar winning actor, but also a prolific director, including the feature "Tell Me A Riddle" (1980). Grant was blacklisted for 12 yrs by HUAC starting in the '50s for refusing to testify against her then-husband

The wonderful Barbara Bel Geddes was BOTD in 1922 and died in 2005 at the age of 82. Her definitive role was as Midge, James Stewart/Scottie's intelligent, independent ex-girlfriend in Hitchcock's "Vertigo" (1958), but she was equally as good in Max Ophuls' noir "Caught" (1949)
