Even though science fiction writer Robert Heinlein was a lifelong champion of libertarian ideals, he still managed to see the dangers of ‘freedom from civilization’ in his short story, “Coventry” (1940). (Unfortunately it also inspired aspects of Hubbard’s Dianetics.)

Apropos of nothing, spotted these in the wild…

Loved the episode, and the project as a whole.

A little surprised no mention of WEDDING CRASHERS, perhaps Ferrell’s ultimate man-child turn. Could have been on the “Recommended if you like…” list. (Fun aside: first R-rated comedy to gross over $200M)

I respect and support your decision, and the difficult process that got you here. It’s disappointing but perhaps unsurprising that some portion of AMCA’s listeners responded poorly, but this franchise attracts all types. Don’t let a vocal minority get you down! Also, Austin made a golf analogy. 😮

Who’s the man from the clan, who wants to eat you and me?

L-E-A, T-H-E, R-F-A-C-E.

Leatherface, Leatherface, forever he will wave his chainsaw high! (HIGH! HIGH!)

Etc.

I can imagine. I’m a typical WASP, families have been here from Scotland, England and N. Ireland for generations, and still have that affinity. Canada will try and reaffirm its connections thru the Commonwealth to offset this nonsense, but every country is going through it these days.

Loved the repartée with Yasi and Amanda. (You were okay too. 😉)

Wondered where you land on the James McTiegue-directed Wachowski adaptation of Alan Moore’s V FOR VENDETTA (2005). Film itself has flaws, but still compelling and features some terrific performances. Feels increasingly relevant.
a tv screen shows a woman wearing a mask and the words " there is something terribly wrong with this country isn't there "
Alt: In a brief scene from film V FOR CENDETTA (2005), a tv screen with a stylized “V TV” icon in the corner shows a person wearing a white Guy Fawkes mask (a smiling moustachioed figure that has come to be identified with anarchist/resistance movements like Anonymous), a dark straight wig of shoulder-length hair and a black high-collared jacket, in front of a red velvet draped curtain. The figure, who styles himself as “V”, says: “There is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there?"

…and we thought the US was disliked around the world before. 🤯 This new era of utter abdication of moral responsibility is achieving record lows every day. I wonder how many decades will pass before they accept accountability for the damage they are doing right now.

Slellwreck ruins all my jokes.

Nothing to do with me not being very funny. Definitely not that.

It’s self-cauterizing. Like love.

I’m petty like that. 🤷‍♂️ 😉

Nah, happy it’s out. I’d just never encountered the word “skelf” before, and with “tiny wee” in front of it, it sounds like you had a pixie in your finger.

Sometimes the grownup in the room just has to say “No”. There should be people in every arm and office of the US Government taking similarly principled stands against illegal executive orders and their enforcement.

Apparently your Valentine’s date is the Bubonic Plague. But hey, you slept! That’s good.
