That kind of stuff always messes with my brain.

I’m now the age my mom was when I was in college, which is an absolutely insane thing to contemplate.

Happy early birthday, you two! 1990 was absolutely 15 years ago, I’m glad we’re on the same page.

A truly baffling series of choices.

Even people who you’d otherwise think would know better sometimes fall into the trap of oh you can’t actually complain about still being economically vulnerable if you’re making decent money, as if we’re not all one major emergency away from entirely fucked.

I’m starting a new job in a couple of weeks thank god but people really underestimate what kind of money it takes to be even reasonably comfortable with the COL like we have in all the metro areas in California, esp. if you or your family are chronically ill or have any sort of additional needs.

Unemployment will just barely cover my mortgage (which is blessedly below market because my parents refi’d like 15 years ago.) Which still leaves food, utilities, my $1200 a month COBRA premiums, copays for meds, etc. I got severance and still gutted my savings in the 3 months I’ve been off work.

Yeah exactly, lots of people have scattered around the Bay Area but mostly not too far I don’t think. Maybe some in SoCal and a few of my closest are in Colorado now.

Our 10th was in I think September and our 20th didn’t happen because COVID. It’s funny because honestly I think most of us still live around here so we could probably have it whenever.

Yep, you have to time it out to make sure you get things in the right sequence and everything’s ready at the same time. Like my mom and I always make gravy and put the rolls in the oven while the turkey rests. The timing is maybe the biggest thing people screw up.

Basically give up the delusion you have to make everything from scratch if you don’t have the skill/desire, stop being fucking weird about what other people do/do not eat and separate “I don’t like this food” from “this sucks and you’re stupid for liking it.”

I have a poppy and orange blossom mix on my thigh for that reason (California and Florida) that is extremely cool imho. Love your idea.

I don’t want to like this because in fact I hate it but it’s an extremely correct take.

He loves DJLM so I’m convincing myself he must also love Oscar.

Not to mention half the doctors in the country at minimum are chronically late. I understand asking people to get there early is ideally to help keep things on time but this is just asking me to do all the work on the group project all over again.
