Biggest takeaway for me is seeing how many others agrees that confidence is the core issue in growth. They are scared of how others will view them and feel like they would rather be seen as lazy than stupid. We as teachers need to help uplift our students and inspire confidence in them to try hard

Yes this helps the feedback be more specific

A5- highlighting strengths and making bite size and actionable steps for improvement for students to grow and utilize your feedback. Keeping it small and simple bc small changes lead to big improvements. #teachered #growthmindset

Also using rubrics, allowing kids to take an assessment again can also show that we are looking at more than just the letter/number grade #teachered #growthmindset

A4- mindset conscious assessment can look like more performance based tasks vs just a letter or number grade. So many students (and adults) fear tests and get their whole academic year boiled down to whether they were “proficient” and can really be a confidence killer. #growthmindset #teachered

This reminds me of high school math. I felt stuck for so long on the tests and quizzes I kept failing. I stopped caring for a long time. Later in life I succeeded in taking the math praxis to teach. Sometimes the growth takes time and effort, but is always worth it

A3- Framing can build confidence. Think “process over product” We can use language around actions, and behaviors that increase success vs if right or wrong, etc. In 1st grade, I might say something like Today we are all learning a way to get better at 2 digit addition. #growthmindset #teachered

A2 also, keeping expectations high at all times. I think sometimes we think meeting students where they are means lowering expectations and that misconception is more of a fixed mindset. Lower expectations = you think a student can only perform at a certain level. #teachered #growthmindset

A2. I believe that these subtle and consistent messages have a big impact on students mindset. Building a culture of error in the classroom allows students to be comfortable im making mistakes without feeling embarrassed. It teaches that we learn through our mistakes. #teachered #growthmindset

A1 cont. the power of yet lets students know that what they seek is in fact achievable but we have to work at certain things to get better #teachered #growthmindset

A1. A students mindset that they have the potential to be great and achieve academic success can build intrinsic motivation. On the other hand, a student not believing that they can achieve will hinder their growth bc they don’t believe that they can get better. #TeacherEd #GrowthMindset

providing PD on deescalation and relationship building with students can also aide in teachers knowing more about their students. Therefore can react differently to behavior if needed. We need to differentiate behavior management the same way we do instruction. #TeacherEd #SpEd

#A5 along with the policies I believe that schools can take more of a student-first approach. Meaning that each child’s uniqueness is considered before blanket policies or consequences are enforced. #TeacherEd #SpedEd

My goal is to continue to build students confidence and communication skills. One way I can achieve this is by making the learning clear and give student friendly rubrics to build ownership with learning. #TeacherEd #SpEd

A4- I plan to nurture self awareness by always taking into consideration student interest and buy-in. Asking students how they would like to learn or complete assignments. In the past, i have given student choice and it always was successful. #TeacherEd #SpEd

A3- Since I teach all subjects, somethings I do across subjects are chunking work and utilizing smaller groups and or 1 on 1 time. I have a co-teacher so it makes it easier to split the class up and conference with individual students. assessments in small group or individually #TeacherEd #SpEd

A2- Some ideas that I have tried that were also in the video are fidget toys, brain breaks, preferential seating, preview schedules, movement breaks. All of these things were also whole class options. #TeacherEd #SpEd
April 12, 2025 at 2:36 PM
In my classroom something as simple as previewing the schedule, having multiple modalities of how students can access content (audio, visual, tactile) preferential seating, are things that I have incorporated daily that even my students without LDs can benefit from #TeacherEd #SpEd
April 12, 2025 at 2:21 PM
A mindset shift when working with students with LDs is necessary. Our mindset can transform the ways we think about our students which can transform our teaching. #TeacherEd #SpEd

Yes! Considering learning styles for students is KEY. Esp students with LDs.

A1- One of the main challenges I found was just knowledge of what an inclusive learning environment is. I feel like we may overthink things have to be specific to 1 or 2 kids in our rooms. The reality is that creating an inclusive learning environments benefit ALL learners. #TeacherEd #SpEd
