Druid and Crimson Speckled aside, without question, my best moth find of the year were these. I trapped three Thalerastria lehmanni on Rhodes in May. If you don't count the Canaries, these were the 2nd, 3rd and 4th records for Europe, and the first for Greece. One record from Spain in 1995. Smart!

Thankfully, someone has already thought of an adjective to describe this bird. It’s a:

Superb Fruit-Dove

Though resplendent, scintillating, arresting would all be apt. Any more?

It took a bit of effort to find these, but like the proverbial bus, one comes along…

Also it’s not a white-eye, regardless of what some taxonomies have you believe.

Orange-bellied Leafbird

The main issue for this family of birds is habitat loss, but the illegal cage-bird trade is decimating populations in some areas.

Heading south again, we went straight to Kaeng Krachan, with a brief stop at Pak Thale. The visit was quick, as it’s probably not the most exciting spot for a non-birding partner. While it was quieter than I had hoped, I still managed to find the target species.
