I'm not sure what is preventing them prosecuting, but I'm sure Police involved are equally frustrated.

I don't think Police have 'cleared' Brian Tamaki. They haven't prosecuted because the evidence they have may not stand up in court. And Tamaki is likely to be very well lawyered-up.

The LW is $27.80 an hour. Dropping to minimum wage would mean losing $186 a week for a full-time worker - or $9,672 a year. How will that benefit anyone? It just means more child poverty, higher welfare payments, and more income insecurity. Is this really how we "go for growth"?

Governments of those days had been through The Depression and WW2. They didn't want their kids to have the same experience, so A Fair Deal for the Ordinary Bloke was the mantra of all governments in the 1950s-1960s.
