3/5: This book is my first introduction to Sherlock Holmes in print format and I was a little disappointed but I understand that's simply because his adventures are best read in order so that the reader can follow his story arc which is something I look forward to doing. As a first impression, I found the writing style very British. I felt like Holmes was a jerk, but I think he was meant to seem like one. Watson was fascinating. The setting of this story was the best part - so vivid and brought fully to life through out time as an almost living, breathing creature itself.
