I’ve revised the #2026TempProject. It’s a bit wider so it should be perfect as a throw and I’ve tweaked the colors. #Knitting 🧶

He’s pushing them into private loans that don’t have the same flexibility, options, or benefits as federal loans. The lenders view these provisions of the Big Disgusting Bill as huge opportunities. It’s about the money AND gate keeping.

I refuse to leave the house or spend any money on Black Friday. I finished purchasing for the holidays a few weeks ago (with the exception of getting together with C & P to get a bigger baby related item for M & M). Everything else is just waiting to go into wrapping bags.

It’s a really good thing that I boost my protein intake with Chike cause my main meal is going to consist of leftover stuffing, potatoes, and my beloved cranberry compote for as long as they last. I typically hate leftovers, but not this week.

Tomorrow Jake will help me put together the stuffing (bread, butter, broth, onions, apples, cider, and traditional herbs of rosemary, sage, and thyme), and a huge pan of mashed potatoes with butter, cream cheese, and sour cream. We’re making extra of everything for leftovers.

Years ago I saw an episode of The Barefoot Contessa in which Ina Garten made a cranberry compote with cranberries, orange, lemon, apples, raisins, and walnuts and I’ve been making it ever since. That will happen later today.

We aren’t getting together until Saturday (I prefer to not celebrate the white washing of history and the murder of the original inhabitants on the traditional Thursday). So today and tomorrow are days for resting, knitting, and preparing food.

For socks, swatches, and other smallish things, I prefer to measure with a ruler rather than a tape measure. One day, when wording was hard, my mouth smooshed blue and ruler together and Ferris Blueler was named. I’ve got ~2” to go until I can start the toe. #NightlyProgressReport #Knitting 🧶

Checked w/Jake and apparently multiple colorways on the same sock hits his tism hard in a bad way. So just Santa Suit, got it. Glad I asked. He discovered the term AuDDtism the other day and was absolutely giddy at how perfect it is. I agree.

I’m enjoying the Emma’s Yarn so much that I revisited the yarns we picked up on that trip. Since I think I’m going to use Carter’s navy for Jake’s toes, I think I’ll make Carter’s socks after these. The purple on the far rt next to the navy is his. Phaja’s 2 colors are next to that.

2 days down, 1 to go. I’m so looking forward to a 4 day weekend where I’m only going out once, on Saturday, to gather with all of my kids for a meal to give thanks. We’re each bringing part of the meal so no one has to do too much. I’m hoping to get lots of rest and knitting in over these 4 days.

Finished the Lost Bride Trilogy. Didn’t realize that book 3 just came out last week. I guess that’s why it landed on my radar. Overall, I’d give it 6/10. The 1st book was the best and I’d give that one an 8. Had to go through all 3 to see how it ended but it could’ve been 1 book.

When we visited Four Purls Carter picked out a purple colorway (Down the Rabbit Hole) and Navy Blazer for accents. I think I’m going to use a little bit of that navy for the toes of Jake’s Santa Suit socks. It’s the same yarn base and should be perfect.

Yay! I’m getting a 3% raise! Which is shit compared to inflation and the rise in my healthcare costs. Especially considering getting a great review. But, it beats the fuck out of the big fat nothing we didn’t get last year so I’m glad they got our expectations down on the ground.

Gotta love when you give yourself a good self review and your manager’s review of you is even better. I hope I do a good job every day. I think I do, but I might be a bit biased. It’s so nice to hear or read it directly. I haz a happy. Now I just hope I get a raise to go with that review…
