gesture and leave it at that. No harm, no foul. Like I said, exposure therapy can only do so much on its own, and forcing yourself to do the thing when you're genuinely not ready for it won't help you much either. So it's okay to toss it for now if that's more comfortable for you.

If the fear is born from something genuine, such as past trauma, then it's not silly. It just is what it is. You don't need to beat yourself up over it if it affects you that much. I'm sure the business owner isn't going to sweat it if you don't eat the candy. It's okay to just take it as a kind-

I don't thinks it's necessarily all that irrational of a fear, but I def don't think it's something you should be too paranoid about either. It might not be a bad idea to bring it up with a therapist if you're that concerned about it though. Exposure therapy can only do so much on its own.

As others said, it's purely born from misplaced anti-authoritarian culture war backlash. Thanks to their insane reaction to the pandemic(spurred on by the Dorito Dipshit), suddenly some of the most fringe bs health conspiracy takes have gained legitimacy.

And this is counter to my point how? Nobody's saying the federal and private systems aren't doing their fair share to fuck anyone over, but medicaid isn't the only public option. WA also has state-funded healthcare, which they also criminally underfund. So my point remains. The city failed them.
