Yay!

The mockingbird, emboldened by their reign of terror, has now tried to lay claim to the back feeder but little do they know that with this feeder I am now armed! I am armed with a little siren and I am not afraid to use it.

None of the other birds would stand up to this bully. Not even the bold cardinals that had been caught previously screaming at anyone around them.

This mother fucking Mockingbird was attacking anyone who came near the feeder! I took to the internet to find that our grey imitator is known for being incredibly territorial and furthermore there was not much you could do about it! (General consensus is to let the birds work it out.)

The Chickadees and Titmouse stopped coming by.. no sign of the Cardinals or squabbling finches. I didn't think much of it being 20F° and all but then I witnessed it - the swoop and peck!

When I first encountered a mockingbird at our window feeder I was glad to see a bigger bird had begun playing defence against the squirrels. But then I noticed something more diabolical was happening.

After about 24hrs we started getting notifications that we had visitors. The occasional squirrel engorging themself for about 30 minutes but mostly House Finches and Cardinals so far. All was peaceful until they arrived.

We were gifted this awesome bird feeder for Christmas. I, the benevolent provider, set it up in a secluded space against our back fence offering a smorgasbord for our local avian population.
