Last night I decided to do a quick 30-45 minute writing session before bed

the 30-45 minute writing session:
* added a new scene (to be written later)
* wrote 700 words
* created 16 new bugs/enhancements in my text editor
* took 2 hours and 40 minutes in total (ended 1.5 hours past my bedtime)

I find it quite sweet when stories (e.g., lesbian romance/smut on ao3) feature a trans woman who is obviously earnestly written by someone who isn't a trans woman

I much prefer an imperfect attempt at writing someone they consider part of their community to not writing it at all

Everyone talks about shopping while hungry but nobody talks about shopping while mildly dehydrated and buying 3 beverages and 6 cans of soup

After giving my ID to the teller at the bank today, she told me that Brie was a very pretty name, paused for a few seconds, and then told me her friend's dog is named Brie

Sometimes I do something nice for random people in public and hope they clock me as trans

Doing nice things feels good on its own, but I really want to earn +5 rep for trans people like it's an rpg

I really hate to keep asking this kind of thing but we still desperately need help. If you can please consider supporting the writing website we've been working on: fluff4.me/fundraiser

Between taxes and my next visa application, we need about $8k USD more so I can stay in NZ with my polycule

I'm doing this on here as well! hopefully consistently! I'm also doing this on tumblr and mastodon but most of y'all are here anyways. Let me know if there are any authors I should be tagging because I know I don't know where all of you are :3c

I posted my accidental Charles Dickens fanfic on AO3 (originally posted here): archiveofourown.org/works/65671435

It's short, silly, and not my best work, but I'm still pretty happy with it.

"... addressed by a persistent advocate with great whiskers, a little voice, and an interminable brief. Directing his contemplation between the great ashen tresses of the High Court's usual residents, he strutted about, entirely indifferent to the vigorous objections raised.

Writing really dense characters is so much fun.

She's too busy yearning for her friends to realize that they DESPERATELY want to kiss her.

It's pretty bold of Ancestry to send me an email about DNA tests for Mother's Day promising to "Get it to Mom in time" since they know exactly how long she's been dead

I've started going on walks and recording myself talking about my current writing project

It forces me to get out of my head and constantly put ideas down (I have to keep talking), which is good for my writing, and it's also great voice training practice

But holy shit, I say "um" and "uh" a LOT

@cheekface.bsky.social is such a fun band to see live, 10/10

They did so many fun little things, I can't wait to annoy my friends by constantly talking about the concert

Mandy looked like she was having so much fun dancing on stage

@sukithefox.bsky.social this is incredibly random but Hard Reset is one of my favorite stories of all time and it's important that you know how much I appreciate it

It's so good, I keep rereading it and telling people to read it

I'm begging indie authors (especially in itch bundles) to release at least one non-PDF version of stories

It's an accessibility thing: I've been told to avoid small fonts (eye strain/over-focusing), and PDFs don't let you control the font size directly

I've written one thing total and it has vampires in it, so people tend to (incorrectly) assume I'm super into vampires.

I have big feelings about robot girls, so much so that my projects there are big and complicated and hard.

Vampires are only kinda neat, so it was so much easier to write that.

I (legitimately) love that stories on scribblehub will go more than a year without updates and then randomly resume with no explanation.

In the example I just read, the author's note had three paragraphs about vector math, which was ideal

Pro tip: If you can avoid reading on scribblehub for multiple days in a row (very difficult), you get to read a bunch of story updates all at once (very good)

@lilyseabrooke.bsky.social I just read A Break in Communications and absolutely loved it. The premise was great and the characters were interesting and funny. It's the type of story that makes me jealous of the characters AND makes me hope that one day I'll write something that good.
