I am just back from such a wonderful evening listening to a talk by the artist Anita Klein and looking at beautiful paintings and prints and ceramics for sale with Eames Fine Art. It was so inspiring and I loved all the art! I highly recommend this exhibition of work.

This is such a gentle & wise book, just published. You probably won’t have seen it advertised & you won’t see it pushed with a big marketing budget, but I really want people to know about it, because it’s just so timely & true, with very helpful questions to ask yourself at the end of each chapter.

I’ve started reading this, & I think it is wonderful & wise & v needed today. It can be used as daily reflections during Lent, & has questions to ponder at the end of each short chapter, & can be used individually or in groups, but obviously it can be read in any way you want. I recommend this.

I am on my way to London to celebrate @dc-litchfield.bsky.social ‘s wonderful book ‘The Bear and the Piano’, and having a cup of tea in a lovely café near the train station to avoid freezing on the platform. Tea is a great invention!

My daughter has prepared the dough for our Christmas sweetbread. Cooking is definitely one of her languages of love and we are very lucky!

More washed teddies drying out ready to be taken to the Red Cross charity shop, hopefully to be loved and cuddled by a new generation. It’s quite emotional giving them away.

My daughter sorted out toys from her childhood & I washed them & today I brought them to a local charity shop to sell before Christmas. I am really glad we got it done in time as these are lovely toys and hopefully will bring joy. It was emotional, but good to see other toys already in the window.

Today I washed some of my daughter’s teddies & a puppet she had sorted out, & they are drying now -they’re in v good condition, like new, & our plan is to give them to a charity shop before Christmas so someone can buy them as Christmas presents for someone they love, & raise money for charity too.

On Saturday I went to such a lovely thing at @gulbenkian.bsky.social -it was a screening & celebration of some of Peter Firmin & Oliver Postgate's SmallFilms, 'Smallfilms on the Big Screen,' with two Postgate sons, who told gentle & humorous stories about their memories of the making of the films.

This weekend I have done some really lovely things. Friday night I went to a wonderful concert to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Bagpuss! Nancy Kerr and James Fagan & Sandra Kerr (the voice of Madeline) performed the songs & music live. It was just so full of beauty - the music is just gorgeous!

So far this morning I have been, with my husband, for a lovely dog walk, have written & submitted an article, and been to a village mother and baby group, where I read my latest picture book to everyone, gorgeously illustrated by Leanne Hatch and published by Walker Books. @anneclarklit.bsky.social

'Sweet Mercies' is my second novel about the nuns of St Philomena in the fictional town of Fairbridge & begins at Christmas, so it is perfect for a Christmas present. It is 'Uplit' with kittens & has a happy ending, but Irish Sister Bridget does have to deal with skeletons in her family's cupboard!

My lovely neighbour invited me over this morning to join her & other neighbours to paint Christmas pebbles. We had coffee and cake baked by another neighbour. The pebbles will be hidden around our village at Christmas for children to find. My neighbour does this every year. I had such a happy time!
