For many that's trying to get a grip on the problematic and often inaccurate nature of the implied binary when it took so long to be able call themselves that openly. You're seeing an epic battle in real time.

Downtown Seattle definitely felt that way to me (I was surprised how tumbledown and deserted it felt downtown) but yeah, most of it has a sheen on it now.

I don't much care what happens to the characters but I'm having no small amount of anxiety Carrie is going to kill that poor cat. People like her should never be given care of a living thing and the show keeps threatening something terrible.

Everyone is still sort of terrible; the critique the show has always been about wealth not sex remains true...but the issues now aren't fixed by money (as much as it makes them easier) People die, kids change, love is elusive, disappointments happen. We all throw on our best dress and move on.
