Sometimes the sailor, sometimes the giant squid. Theater, fiction, and various other arts are sold surreptitiously from a big overcoat I wear on even the hottest days and nobody suspects a thing.
Always is, never disappointed.

Annnnd....it's done. Four months of writing, rehearsal, and preparation, four nights of performance. "Choosing the Bear" is a wrap and stagehands Sully and Mac get a well-deserved vacation. I can't express how good it felt to do this show. Doing it with my nearest and dearest was pure langniappe.

What a difference a week, a month, a year, makes. Eve of a new show opening tomorrow night and in every way I'm feeling gratitude for being so far away from the place of the last. It's a little too short and it might not land but "Choosing the Bear" is on its feet. Let's see if it can dance.

Yesterday, Roux decided the best way to show his displeasure regarding his imprisonment in the cargo area for the duration of a long car ride was to gnaw his very expensive leash into multiple irreparable pieces.

Dogs are excellent teachers and there's a lesson for all of us in this.

A friend's Thanksgiving greeting just reminded me to go buy another turkey because that guy behind the meat counter would be lucky to have me.

I'm nuts for any kind of mochi/tapioca-like texture and also deeply, irresponsibly on vacation. Realizing I had everything to make the pumpkin version of Banh Bo Nuong means I'm taste-testing at 2am. Nothing to see, neighbors. Move along.

Turns out an Osaka-style eel knife is great for prepping.
Italian chestnuts. News you can use, just in time or Thanksgiving.

I'm too burned out myself but someone really needs to do a compilation clip of every time Susan Collins has been "shocked" in the last eight years. Because friends, that would be comedy gold in that "If I laugh at any mortal thing, tis that I may not weep" sort of way.

In the aftermath of the failed vote to change the Maine state flag to something besides a seal on a blue background, I found out Portland Maine has a *city* flag and it is so perfect it should fly a thousand years. Long live the freaky eels.

How is it even vaguely possible it took nearly thirty three years for me to realize Turtle was gunned down at the airport making his escape with the Ex-Presidents? Never mind listening, clearly nobody looks for Turtle either.

God help me, I have reached the point in my life where the only answer to "Who's Your daddy?" must be answered "Battery Daddy."

"The Orville" made it a particular alien's heat cycle pheromones that made everyone horny. And that alien was a blue Rob Lowe...which made the whole thing kind of awesome actually?

Strange Days. Setting it on the eve of 2k dated it almost immediately but it still stands up pretty well.
