It just seems a real shame that people are relying on a solipsistic Captain Planet plot device.

Darkly, it makes me empathize with all the weirdos of old.

Knowing how those things work, that's leaps and bounds more sad than the horrors of old.

They were... so smug about it.

Make a devil of me, you don't get to be shocked when I twist the knife and work the coals. You don't get to be shocked at the scathing rebuke that I would see you choke upon.

The pursuit of wealth has killed the glory of the labor. And you are also, importantly,, wrong atop it all.

May you perish.

If you are going to gut my work for the filthy purpose of capitalism, you should at the very least not tell me I'm wrong when I have cited my works quite thoroughly - and you have not.

Furthermore, you should not seek to make a mercenary of me. Or you should not then also be surprised if I strike.

I have... friends who forced me to watch some Hetalia recently while I was high.

It was like having my head melted by a microwave. Absolute sadistic behavior.

I am so tempted to say mean things to that sad example of prophylactic industry failure.

Anyway, half the party is fighting giant space monster.
Thus far, Kyoka and the other PC with it are kinda just fucking with some yokai because y'know... trickster spirits.

Famously, it just keeps saying the shit trickster spirits would say to trick someone. Because the rule of narratives.

Also it reluctantly bound itself for one generation to the lady out on bail as a shikigami because she was /the only one/ who celebrated how it found a way to stop people from becoming corrupted by Hell and cured itself of that in like... a week.

Only person to practice reciprocity etiquette.

Party has also just in-character understood what it means for it to be a crab-eating fox; because it doesn't get the "fish crabs" and "bird crabs" and it is so frustrated about that kinda stuff.

After playing things straight, and then playing for consequences, I played Kyoka for funny fuckery.

Really just doesn't want to study mushrooms anymore.
It knows every conceptual thing about fungi. Which has helped it make a ton of drugs.

But it doesn't care about mushrooms because it knows everything. Mushrooms are fucking boring. It wants fruit gummies and to drink 4Loko.

It has the Secret Lover disadvantage, but also it got hopped up on Heavenly energies and tried to get a doctor to put a kid in it because Heaven is ultra-conservative and thinks a Kitsune is either a fox, a foxwife, or a mailman.

So if the Secret Lover wants it, it'll do it.

Fuck it, why not?

Its view on life and death is "I just keep happening" but also it is deeply unhelpful about time. It measures time by caloric intake.
Yesterday/Today/Tomorrow, otherwise.

It freaked out because it didn't know what an "orange" was.
It was unaware of imitation crab meat.
It loves Monster energy.

Also has developed a complex because the captain keeps talking about its "beans." Is currently harboring a bunch of people in another dimension to prevent them from suffering from a giant hellspawn space demon.

Is super not thrilled to be working for Inari to serve mortals, vs making "wild poetry."

Started off by killing a doctor on the ship and pretending to be him, had to play morale for many people oddly, ended up curing an existential threat to all mortal life and could drastically change the cosmos.

Is effectively a super scientist who just wants to eat trash food and smoke weed.

I understand there is a Scholarship focus for landless adventurers - but there's not a general Pilgrim one? Feels like that's a no-brainer. The events are rather clear.

Heck, even just sustenance-themed events/contracts - for families that are just going pure nomad loner types.
November 9, 2025 at 10:59 PM
Also, perhaps I'm just bad at the game - but do they not have pilgrimage badges in the game? That feels like it could be a whole fun thing to play for as a wandering adventurer. Just tour the Middle East, collecting badges as a show of your faith, return home with them to bring glory to the dynasty.

Spousal stuff is less ambitious, and more useful in terms of fleshing out a specific area of play.

... My brain is going to that scene from that 70's Show where Red and Kelso try to make smaller paddles for Pong. For want of a challenge.

I need my meds. Too much speed, but no direction.
November 9, 2025 at 10:51 PM
There's not enough of that.
Events to have an Ambitious character learn the meaning of enough, a Vengeful character to learn forgiveness, a Craven character to learn bravery.

Not even to change the trait, but to challenge or reinforce that aspect.

But I'm far afield now. In the bold places.

Let me raise a kid who has nightmares a lot as a child, so I give him a conditional to pursue that through art, and then suddenly he's very unfit to be a ruler but as a courtier he's pursuing a magnum opus of illuminating texts.

More little things that can give nuance to personality traits.
