The integrity of assessment can no longer be guaranteed in general. For 200/month gpt functions as a very high level “research assistant”. The implications for written assignments and the thesis are staggering, to say nothing of the impact this will have on academic publishing

there are awesome little retro video game emulators that fit in your pocket. Cheap, asy to grab and stash, and don't have internet so you can't accidentally click on an app that will pull you in

As long as it works for you, then you’re golden! Papers in my field tend to have so many citations that it’s not feasible to memorise them. I’ve also not had the log in issue you’re describing, that would be super annoying!!

I’d never considered that! The amount of in-text citation I do makes the Word integration of those other apps really useful (except when they crash and I have to start over - looking at you endnote!)

Choose a date, and once every year, buy your supervisors coffee, or chocolates, or write a card and let them know you appreciate them. Don’t wait until graduation day to celebrate your achievements, and don’t wait to thank them for their mentorship.
