What apps are actually critical for engaging in a 2025 digital society? We could definitely delete everything and return to a pre-social media world but assuming we want the perfect balance of benefit to harm from social media, what apps are essential? Or, is it more about the time than the content?

Im not a student or a supervisor (yet) so this is the least biased I’ll ever be.

Good PhD supervisors will celebrate your small accomplishments. But students should celebrate their supervisors too! My proposal: Supervisor Appreciation Day.

Unironic hot take: the Nintendo switch is fantastic for mental health, maybe more-so if you’re not a “video game person”. Affordable, huge range of games, fundamentally a toy, and a much more wholesome and enriching way to spend time than most interactions on social media.
