We wanted to use some white-topped drawing pins to hang up our snowflake decorations.

I said, "I think I bought some of those a while ago. Let me look..."

We looked in the Drawer which has Things To Attach Things To Other Things.

"Bingo! We've got loads left!"

This is a piece of the packaging around some frozen cod fillets. You know how awkward they are to open, don't you? Little hooky flappy bits with Slot A and Tab B style holding the box closed.

I've found bits like this in my dinner.

I'd rather they just made the boxes easier to open.

This is the reason for my slightly brief and somewhat jerky reply.

His name is Jarvis.

Yes, I am a boomer. 😁

Saw a weird mushroom on my way to the co-op this morning. About 15cm tall.

Aldi have changed their Wholebean Instant Ground Coffee.

It used to be branded as Alcafe and now it's Barissimo.

The spray-dried instant constituent is still 95%, but it's now ground finer.

And it leaves a scum on the top of the drink.

(Coffee+milk mixed then add hot water)

I'll try Lidl.

The firethorn is starting to produce food for the winter birdies.

My t-shirt isn't a Cindy one. I bought it a few years ago.

I might have to buy another one!

It's vinyl-flooring, so no big deal, but to stop him from treading in it, I lift him out of the pen. On to the woollen carpet. Where he promptly does a huge wee.

Drat.

I mean, he's only a puppy, so you can't blame him. Especially when he looks at you like...

Found time* to peel a pot full of apples. Maybe a crumble or some turnovers?

* - We've a 4mth old puppy, so time for things like cooking is at a premium.

This is the entire wall as seen from Parliament.

Every single heart is a person dead from COVID.
August 26, 2025 at 11:53 AM
And here is how densely the hearts were being drawn at the end of the wall.

I was given the book 'Led by Donkeys' as a birthday present.

I've just read of their involvement with the UK 's 'National COVID Memorial Wall'.

Here are some photos of people drawing a heart in memory of a loved one lost to COVID. 1/

Yay! Target reached! Boudica can have her live-saving surgery!

Any extra money will go towards her ongoing epilepsy medication, so all contributions will be very gratefully received!

After my loggy exertions yesterday, this is where the logs went.

Actually, this is just over half of the delivery, with the rest going to join the 4 backup stores down the garden.
August 16, 2025 at 7:42 AM
Summer is the best value time to refill the log stores for winter, but the worst time to refill them for sweating.

1013 mb is the standard air pressure at sea level. The weight of the column of air above us.

1013 kg is the weight of 2 pallets of logs we shifted from the drive to the log stores.

It's hot today — about 30°C — so Jarvis and I are talking our midday walk in the garden. We end up sitting and laying in the shade of the magnolia tree.

A minute after I took this photo I had to stop him from eating a chunk of plant pot that he'd unearthed. 🙄 No brains at all.
