So why is the Champion an add-on now? Through playtesting I determined there were just slightly more options than I wanted in the base game. The Champion has some thematic overlap with both the Discarded and Juggernaut. People loved the Juggernaut, and the Discarded had better group dynamics

The Champion has some cool moves that gives them flexibility while showcasing single-mindedness. They can channel physical pain to ignore social pressures. You can use your obsession for creative problem solving. You can even trigger a flashback scene under the right circumstances.

Like everything else in Last Kiss, it comes back to Trauma. While the Chairperson starts by undermining authority, the Champion longs for the approval of one authority figure in particular. Someone who doesn't even start in the game. They're gone. You're not going to get it. That feeds mechanics

I wrote the Champion thinking about Kyouichi from Utena, every jock who their treats girlfriend as inconvenient, and honestly Ash from pokemon. I tried to take the concept of Ash, and drop them into this world. What makes someone so obsessed. Hunter x Hunter explains Ash . . .

The Chairperson has it's roots in the classic anime trope of the scheming student body president. They have the Influencer move, which allows them to spend Main Character Energy to assign anyone a Label. This gives themselves and allies an edge whenever needed, but they need to have MCE to spend it
