The single player campaign's mechanics would barely need any updating (a modernised UI between the levels, and maybe a transition to 3d graphics - or not - and perhaps to a tilted-view like Nuclear Throne or similar). Maybe add more variety to equipment.

An add-on multiplayer mode could be fun.

Ooh, I might have to look into that!

I think the only alternative is one of the higher-detail Sculpeys and I think they're not really in the same league.

Cripes. I hope you can get it resolved soon. If it's the tariffs, maybe you can communicate to him that you'll be happy to pay when it arrives? Couldn't be too much on a pack or two of clay, right?

Hope it's nothing too serious!

Aw man. Looking at the site, the guy who makes it might be having trouble at the moment.

Pity, it's excellent stuff.

It's pretty much all on Wikipedia, the thing that stops them being built in people's backyards is mainly the humongous expense.

If you want the sculpting without the mixing (and having to rush to finish before the putty sets), you could try this oven bakeable clay I found called Beesputty. It's specifically made for sculpting high/crisp detail things like minis and busts. I've used it, it's brilliant.

We suffer from the "Australia Tax", though, so if you're in the US or EU you might be able to get them for cheaper (well, depending on Tariffs in the US).

If you go lower you can find some cheap-but-cheerful ones, but you may be missing out on print volume, modern features, etc.

Depends what you mean by "decent". If you just want to do FFF w/ basic filaments very nicely, here in Australia you can get a pretty good printer with no enclosure or heating for about AU$500 (lower, if you wait for sales or buy second hand). A really good one will set you back twice that or more.

Yeah, it's a pretty amazing and rapidly-developing field. Having a lotta fun with it myself, think I'm gonna grab some SBS and see what it's like to print with. From what I've heard it's easier to work with than TPU.

Hey, not a furry, but I was going through one of the 3D Printing feeds and:

There are 3D printed squishable materials like TPU, PEBA and SBS. Cosplay and engineering people print wearables in those all the time. I think there are even filaments that expand into foam when printed.

Yeah, the Fractal Design North is a particular favourite. Has that 80s feel.

Definitely a good use case.

Seen a few different 3D printable prosthetic hand projects out there, for instance.

TBH I think there'd be money in making custom wood PC cases with those kinds of details.

I know I'd be tempted.

Ah, I was just thinking depending on what type of screen it uses (LCD vs OLED) having more pixels black might save a bit of power.
