I dived into a deep rabbit hole recently, and ended up putting together and sharing a 30-page bibliography of writings by (and about) Greg Stafford over at basicroleplaying.org/topic/26176-.... Maybe it's of interest to a few others? I'll be adding more to it soon. #Glorantha #Pendragon #ttrpg

Book started: Dice Men, by Ian Livingstone with Steve Jackson. Very enjoyable holiday reading - loving all the archive images. Except for a slightly disturbing photo of @gravesnailyard.bsky.social.

Wait, did I get this wrong? Is this not a photo of several Mega City One blocks in an early phase of construction? Is there not a posse of Judges on flying Lawmasters just out-of-shot, ready to launch a raid on the Park Hill Stookie Glanding Gang?

Yeah, Barker's "ducks" are #29 on this picture (Hegléthyal, they live in thatched stilt-huts in swamps). static.wikitide.net/1d6chanwiki/...

#5 in a set of posts about Gloranthan art hanging on my walls. This one is Moon Cat, by @katrindirim.bsky.social . I guess that Moon Cat is just something conceived in a moment of whimsy. Like the Gloranthan Lunars? Like cats? Ok, here’s Moon Cat. Note the halo: Moon Cat is a goddess, don’t ya know?

Book started (and mostly read): Woman Life Freedom by Marjane Satrapi, and many others. Words and pictures that sometimes form comics, all related to the events before and after the 2022 murder of Mahsa Amini by Iranian "morality" police. Interesting, angry, hopefully not eclipsed by recent events.

Book finished: On Savage Shores, by Caroline Dodds Pennock. It recounts the experiences of indigenous "Americans" who discovered Europe shortly after Europeans discovered them. A thought-provoking perspective, but unfortunately it struggles with the sheer lack of recorded sources.

Sunday at Continuum convention. I spent the afternoon playing the 1984 Glorantha / RuneQuest cards-and-dice game Pantheons, in a new version by the original designer, Chester Hendrix. Compare the original version here: boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/45...

I'm trying to finish all my packing ready to travel to @continuumconuk.bsky.social tomorrow morning. I'll be bringing this with me, an updated version of Chester Hendrix's 1984 dice-and-card game Pantheons, where deities battle using the Gloranthan Runes to see whose pantheon will come out on top.

#4 in a series of threads about Glorantha art hanging on my wall. This is Eserela and the Red Goddess, by @katrindirim.bsky.social.
That’s the Red Goddess kneeling on the right, depicted with red skin and a dress covered in stars, as per tradition. Her lover, Eserela, is on the left, seated.

This is #3 in a series of threads about Gloranthan art hanging on my walls. This one is so good, I bought it twice, first as a commission for my book, The Voralans, and here as the original hand-drawn ink art from @leeoconnor.bsky.social. In the book, this picture is in full colour, added digitally.

Here's some more Gloranthan art from my wall. Gods & Goddesses of Glorantha is another piece of art by @arkat.bsky.social from Wyrms Footprints (1995). It was used as the front page for a section in that book reprinting a serious of articles on pantheons that ran from Wyrms Footnotes #4 to #13.

This is (hopefully) the first in a set of short threads about some of the Gloranthan artwork hanging on my walls at home.
This is the original art by @arkat.bsky.social depicting Bina Bang and Lord Lurker in Shadows, drawn in 1984 for the Wyrms Footprints book, which came out the following year.

I visited @allrolledup.bsky.social for #freeRPGday. Played Dragonbane, run by @paulbaldowski.bsky.social - my character had a very cool ending, which I can't share due to spoilers :-). Came away with a trio of games by @chaosium.bsky.social, NEEDgames & @hitpointpress.bsky.social.

Book started. I've read the introduction and look forward to the rest. It's a corrective to Eurocentric history and the 'discovery of the New World' narrative. It sets out how the indigenous peoples of the American continents discovered the 'old world', often by transit east across the Atlantic.

Another book finished. Printed 2007 (in very limited copies) but written in the late 1960s, it is, as it says, the Roots of Glorantha, from before any game was ever envisaged. Lots of king lists, but also lots of foundational setting material: Gbaji, Argat (sic), the Sun Stop, the Serpent Kings etc.
