Here in lies the problem. Farage is by any measure a duplicitous character, unworthy of public respect, steeped in a Machiavellian conspiracy but none of this cuts through with his base. They do not want heed the evidence preferring to drown the voice of true patriots in a deluge of blind adulation

Just finished binge watching BBC's Civilisations, Rise and Fall and I intend to watch it again. Great, compulsory viewing for all. And if you need a further recommendation: The Daily Torygraph hates it.

The Brexit (oven ready) Deal was a disgrace David Frost. Shame on those who produced. Maybe you might like to say sorry and resign from the HoL

Wow! Scotland. How did Scottish A & E cope. They must have been swamped with cardiac arrest cases.
As an England fan may I offer my congratulations. You will be my 2nd favourite team in the World Cup.

Why does the right attract British people of colour.? Zia Yusuf is another. Do they embrace racist bigotry because they think it will ingratiate the "British" elite and earn them acceptance? They are wrong. They are used to mask the racism but will be dropped in heartbeat when the time is right.

Six water companies have been blocked from paying bonuses to bosses over serious pollution incidents and other performance issues. A further £2.4m of performance-related executive pay was not required to be blocked, but should not be funded by customers. It's a start.

As it should be. Never let this faux patriot raise the matter again.

Saddened to hear about the passing of Prue Scales. Only knew her through her television persona but she always struck me as a warm and caring person, not at all like Sybil ; "she can kill a man at 10 paces with one blow off her tongue." A fine and talented actor.

Stephen Colbert, a truly lovely man leading the fight against Trump and MAGA. If anyone should be dining with the King today, it is him. Everything Trump can never be.

Proud to British Even Prouder to be a Bristolian
But on two main streets in Bedminster and Ashton Gate - Luckwell Road and Duckmoor Road and nearby West Street, the flags sparked some controversy, with some local residents living on those streets saying they didn’t want them there.

As Farage and Co stir up hatred and anger with lies and falsehoods, I am reminded of the words of Steve Biko:
The most powerful weapon in the hands of the oppressor is the minds of the oppressed.

Strange how attached one can become to a fictional TV character but to hear of the passing of Loretta Swit is so sad. Obviously never knew her personally or knew anything about her beyond her Hot Lips Houlihan persona in that iconic TV series M.A.S.H. best US sitcom ever.

By saving BSC Scunthorpe the government can ensure the survival of well paid jobs. The money will circulate back in the form of workers spending and taxation. The alternative will result in more benefits and further spiralling decline.

Given the recent experience of Russia and now Trump, it should be evident that commodities from foreign powers, essential to national security, are not be relied on. It is a no brainer that the government should nationalise British Steel Scunthorpe, not as a short term project but one with a future
