$60B on VR is almost entirely on the hubris of Zuck, I'd say. It basically proves the man has very little actual business sense despite his billions.

Where does the revenue come from to run these places, Ed? The internet has changed so, so much. Ads money is dried up, people don't frequent "sites". This is probably the death knell of games media but it's been a slow, brutal death the past several years. It's very sad.

Isn't it understood that BioWare is indeed quite a bit more expensive to run versus Atlus? The Western vs Japanese salaries & benefit costs are very, very different. Plus the weakness of the Yen also makes Japanese development much more lucrative for a product they export to the rest of the world.

Part of this story is that it's not very affordable to develop games in the West anymore. The salaries and other compensation are too much in comparison to Japan or Eastern Europe where the others are from. $20k USD per head per month estimate in that story - which is a pretty standard US dev cost.

The FC news is surely what moved the stock - but the DA:V underperformance is more relevant to the 'enthusiast press' audience I'd say. Regardless, the screenshot & centering of Taash is an unrepentant dog whistle to our shittiest people & they absolutely know what they are doing.
