I think the most definitive report on "The Health Effects of Cannabis and Cannabinoids" is this 2017 report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering & Medicine (NASEM). There MAY be some harms; there ARE some health benefits/potential benefits.

The article talks about how it's going to be holistic not "thou shalt" but sorry, thou shalt not destroy habitat if thee wants biodiversity. This is like ecology 101 stuff, even though a lot of research effort is spent trying to bargain with the fact

Great idea except then we don't actually protect ecosystems

I got to meet with Terry lake back when he was environment Minister. I remember very clearly: we have too many species, we have to use ecosystem-based protection not species based protection. Same argument is presented in this article.

B.C. isn’t getting an endangered species law | The Narwhal
The B.C. government is instead proposing a more holistic approach around ecosystem health — so far, they’ve got a plan and no legislation

(we still don't have one. We only have "related laws" www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/... ) so if you're an endangered bird make sure to stay on a military base or post office or whatever
Species at risk related legislation
following provincial and federal laws collectively govern how at risk populations and habitats are managed and who’s responsible for them

Examples abound. As a grad student I was part of a small campaign back in 2011 to try to get BC to pass a law to protect endangered species, to align with the federal law. I went to every pub night of every BC lib leadership candidate and asked the Q. Only George Abbott said he'd do it.

Both disciplines exist in omnicrisis and both disciplines come to fairly straightforward conclusions based on mountains of evidence and analysis (E.g. living things need high quality intact habitat so don't destroy it)
But then policymakers go "lol no"

I can find literature that focuses on the program level (e.g. what % of people in med school drop out) but I'm interested in being a bit more granular - what classes specifically typically bottleneck people
