Spending some time reading outside. I'm about 150 pages into Staircase in the Woods by @chuckwendig.bsky.social and it is an absolutely brilliant story. I'm loving it.

@sadiehartmann.bsky.social I am looking for a book recommendation. What is the scariest Witch book you have read and enjoyed? Looking for something Salem's Lot-ish or Stephen Graham Jones-y.

Finished Silverblood Promise by James Logan this week. A really refreshing fantasy story with a personal feel. Loads of fun. Posted my review on @goodreads

Finished When her World Went Away by Alexis L Carroll yesterday. I really enjoyed the story and the lore of the world was amazing. Sairha (the main character) felt very real throughout. A fun dystopian story. Posted a review on Goodreads.

Finished Dragons of Eternity by Maragaret Weiss yesterday. This story brought me a tremendous amount of joy. It was amazing to visit these characters again. They were pivotal to my reading life as a teen.

I know this is going to be unpopular but I finished Way of Kings and did not enjoy it at all. The first 800 pages had zero plot - I was so bored by the time something happened I didn't care. The world building was great but some of it felt derivative. I am so disappointed, I wanted to love it.

Finished this book for my book club a few days ago. It is super intense and emotional. City of Laughter nearly wrecked me. I highly recommend this one.

Revisiting Something Wicked This Way Comes for the first time in years. I am blown away by the dread and horror of the novel. The beauty of the writing is astounding. I am once again in awe of a master.

Working my way through How High We Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu and City of Luaghter is the most emotionally devastating thing I have read in a long time. Especially as a parent. I feel wrecked.

Literally just finished House of Bone and Rain by @gabino.bsky.social and I am in awe. El Brujo is the best new horror creation since Pennywise. This book is an epic horror read. Think Stand by Me meets Narcos. Review on @goodreads
