I test #raspberrypi single board computers and the many alternatives at https://bret.dk so you don't have to 🚀 @bret@fosstodon.org
We have the Orange Pi 6 Plus with the CIX P1 up in the top spot for most tests so far on sbc.compare - hoping to get more with this SoC soon and check out the slight differences!

After months of testing and tweaking, I'm extremely happy to finally show off sbc.compare to the world! 🥹

80 boards are available now, and more are on the way. List by benchmark, SBC vendor, or SoC vendor/model 📊

Lots still to do, but let me know what you think 🥰

When the moon hits your eye, like a big Lichee Pi, that’s a 4A..

Seeing the test print on my custom build plate from @emberprototypes.bsky.social was a fun surprise this evening 😁

I just need to come up with some bigger prints to actually make use of the pattern now 😅

My first Qualcomm SBC.. Time to put it through its paces 😎

It’s been a while, gang.. Let’s see what’s cooking!

You don't know how relieved I was to learn that I don't need a Hong Kong dollar system 😌

I’m such a sucker for pain

Decided to run a free SEO analysis on my site out of pure curiosity. I know I'm not the greatest of wordsmiths, but for a service trying to sell me on how to do things, this feels a little sloppy...

It’s market research time again!

Do you find WiFi benchmark results useful in SBC reviews even though your setup will be completely different? Or does seeing the data across the boards in identical setups still prove useful?

Dog to grab your attention to a very boring topic 😊

You may not like it, but this is what peak SBC cooling performance looks like.

(I’m very glad these are going in the office, these Noctua industrialPPC 3000RPM fans rip)

Wonderful use of $20 of PETG and fittings 🤌
June 18, 2025 at 10:22 PM
$15 of cheap PETG later, the 10” mini rack is starting to take shape.. Side panels are printing as we speak, and the screws/inserts arrive Monday!

Operation “can I rack mount 70 SBCs” begins soon..
June 7, 2025 at 10:50 AM
After a month or so of sitting (mostly, hence the dust) idle I’m using the rack for what is was built for 😅

Testing software across different types armhf, aarch64, riscv64, and x86 boards for an upcoming project 🥰

We're back! Maybe it just took many hours for the set-inform stuff to go through and it realised where it was..

We did it!

Time to see if I break everything whilst trying to convert my @jetkvm.bsky.social to be powered via PoE, courtesy of hackergadgets.com😅

I was so proud of myself for cleaning my desk earlier in the week.. Then the weekend hit 😄

Do you think this would pass an inspection?
March 23, 2025 at 8:41 PM
Mini rack this, mini rack that..

Everybody loves a mini rack, but are they ready for the degenerate rack?

Buying and flashing 50 @raspberrypi.com microSD cards is a lovely way to spend an evening btw. Just saying. Maybe.

A couple of Debix (Model A/C) boards join the collection! They’re actually the first iMX SoCs I’ve had my hands on so it’s nice to have a couple to check out 😄

99% of my office is held together with command strips… This saved me some space (and future neck pain) on the workbench though 😅
