I test #raspberrypi single board computers and the many alternatives at https://bret.dk so you don't have to 🚀 @bret@fosstodon.org
Oh boy.. I'm looking into getting some professional help with SEO on the new site and it is an absolute minefield. I'm sure my budget is playing a large part of it but hot damn is it painful

Lots of people said they wanted more flexible filtering on sbc.compare soooo hopefully this is a step in the right direction :)

sbc.compare/browse

There's a crap load of data there, and a crap more to come, but feel free to throw feedback my way!

We have the Orange Pi 6 Plus with the CIX P1 up in the top spot for most tests so far on sbc.compare - hoping to get more with this SoC soon and check out the slight differences!

Pushed an update to the search on sbc.compare this afternoon allowing a bunch of new search terms (SBC/SoC manufacturer, model, CPU core numbers, RAM generation, GPU/NPU names etc) and fixing some strange behaviours..

Let me know if you still have issues. Full changelog soon!

I'm not entirely sure if they meant to, but Radxa have confirmed the existence of the Intel N150-based successor to the X4, the Radxa X5!

No more GPIO area "notch", a @raspberrypi.com RP2350A, and a 64-bit memory bus 🥰

Seeing the test print on my custom build plate from @emberprototypes.bsky.social was a fun surprise this evening 😁

I just need to come up with some bigger prints to actually make use of the pattern now 😅

The @armsom-official.bsky.social AIM7 is an RK3588-based System on Module that offers a drop-in replacement for the NVIDIA Jetson Nano. I've taken a look over it before its Crowdsupply campaign comes to an end!

For those who saw the new graphs in my Pi 500+ article, the data comes from sbc.compare/49-raspberry... - it's something I've been working on for a while and will continue to work on before doing any kind of official launch, but feedback on the overall idea etc would be nice!

Decided to run a free SEO analysis on my site out of pure curiosity. I know I'm not the greatest of wordsmiths, but for a service trying to sell me on how to do things, this feels a little sloppy...

It’s market research time again!

Do you find WiFi benchmark results useful in SBC reviews even though your setup will be completely different? Or does seeing the data across the boards in identical setups still prove useful?

Dog to grab your attention to a very boring topic 😊

You may not like it, but this is what peak SBC cooling performance looks like.

(I’m very glad these are going in the office, these Noctua industrialPPC 3000RPM fans rip)
June 26, 2025 at 7:10 PM
Do people generally appreciate having the low-end Intel stuff like the N100/N150 thrown in for comparisons with the higher-performing ARM-based stuff (RK3588 kinda stuff, not Ampere) or does it get in the way?

In my view, it’s worth having for those who appreciate the value/ease but what do I know

Wonderful use of $20 of PETG and fittings 🤌
June 18, 2025 at 10:22 PM
$15 of cheap PETG later, the 10” mini rack is starting to take shape.. Side panels are printing as we speak, and the screws/inserts arrive Monday!

Operation “can I rack mount 70 SBCs” begins soon..
June 7, 2025 at 10:50 AM
After a month or so of sitting (mostly, hence the dust) idle I’m using the rack for what is was built for 😅

Testing software across different types armhf, aarch64, riscv64, and x86 boards for an upcoming project 🥰

This shiny 48-port UniFi Pro PoE switch I have is nice, but it keeps going offline in the controller? It's still fully functional, it just refuses to let me do anything in the UI, which is quite annoying, and I don't want to reboot the switch, considering it's powering about 40 devices! Whyyyyyyy

Time to see if I break everything whilst trying to convert my @jetkvm.bsky.social to be powered via PoE, courtesy of hackergadgets.com😅
