Picked up all 10 volumes of BAREFOOT GEN for a dollar each.

I've been meaning to read this ever since I read a review of it in THE COMICS JOURNAL in the early 80s.

Now there is no excuse.

(While doing alt-text it changed to DEN D'HIROSHIMA. Now I am imagining Corben drawing it.)

40 years since CALVIN AND HOBBES began.

Before Hobbesian meant that you thought life was "nasty, brutish and short."

After...

Cover for ashcan edition of AMAZING ADVENTURES.

Ziff-Davis produced this to test the market interest for comics.

It was 8 pages and was sent to subscribers of their SF magazines.

The two stories inside were by Alex Schomburg and Ogden Whitney.

Go out for a walk.

Come back with a lot of Joni Mitchell.

Tonight's movie is the third in Luchino Visconti's "German" trilogy.

I'll be watching the 4 hour and 17 minute cut that has been split into 5 parts so I can also watch Ken Burns' AMERICAN REVOLUTION series.

Looking forward to seeing Romy Schneider reprise her role of Elizabeth "Sissi" of Austria.

$5.00 pick up today.

I love WW2 propaganda cartoons.

Unfortunately the set does not include the long lost short UNCLE WALT TRIES TO BREAK THE UNION.

Tonight's movie is the first, and to my mind, best, of John Ford's Calvary Trilogy.

Fonda plays an awful commander based on Custer and gives a fantastic performance.

And despite having many supporting roles played by his stock company actors, it is much less sentimental than RIBBON and GRANDE.

Tonight's movie answers the age-old question: What if a giant radioactive turtle could fly?

I haven't seen this in almost 50 years, so it should be nostalgic as hell.

And I have the Arrow box sets with the other 11 in the series, so my kaiju needs will be met for a while.

Tonight's movie is a MGM musical from 1945 that features a dance duet between Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly when both men were at their peak.

It also has a whip wielding Lucille Ball and a bevy of catwomen.

But I am most curious to see the numbers with Lucille Bremer.

Tonight's movie will be watched in the knowledge that one of the greatest actors of his generation is no more.

If you are a Kurosawa fan, he was probably in one of your favourite movies.

And if all you know if him is his work with Akira, please check out his work with Kobyashi.

RIP Nakadai-san.
