most broadway fans don't know... the original idea for their favorite musical, Bring Back Birdie, was that Birdie, after being drafted and sent overseas, was captured and held hostage as a POW, so the FBI trains Rosie (Chita Rivera) as a spy to go after him and bring him back.

few films are as wonderful as those 3, and maybe wonderful isn’t the word for these… John Cameron Mitchell has an astonishing 3 in a row, his first 3. The sheer quality and variety of these 3 films should have made JCM a top director. HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, SHORTBUS, and RABBIT HOLE.
