A business partner of mine was a senior exec for him when he bought Solar City (said partner’s brother’s company as Co-Founder). Anyone who knew or was even just mildly acquainted with him a decade+ ago like me has watched what’s happened since with shock and horror - yet, a jaded eye.

He previewed Mars Rover footage then-unseen to the general public for all of us at Dennis Hopper’s house for the Christmas party one year with the project head from JPL as he announced the purchase of SpaceX. He was passionate about Sweden’s online voting test-case at Bender’s (in retrospect: hmm).

I remember when he first came down from NorCal to make the rounds sucking up to us Hollywood folk - little fish like me; big ones like Lawrence Bender, Ariana Huffington, Mike Medavoy, etc - at Hollywood Hill events. When he still drove a 911, announced he’d bought Tesla. When we was cool. A shame.

This is one part narrative short film, one part music video for a song I wrote. It’s part of a sales package for the feature of the same name. Had a wonderful cast, great crew, and the best time coming back to my hometown to direct something 25 years after I moved to LA (then Beijing, & now Paris).
