This not a “fluid mingling of politics with profit” — it’s corruption.

They’re building a paramilitary force loyal to the president but beyond the reach of the law.

Also, at the end, I got to share this quote from @lea9223.bsky.social, about the importance of hope, which I think is very moving:

I don’t think the solution for Democrats is to embrace an historically unpopular industry in exchange for more money.

Lol I have the administration’s attention. Also, if you’re the *Deputy Attorney General*, how pathetic is it to personally look up your critics on LinkedIn. Go solve a crime!

I’m a broken record, but the only thing DOJ has is its credibility: the ability to persuade judges and juries to agree with it. This administration is absolutely committed to destroying that credibility, and this is the predictable—and just—result.

Four years after officers saved the life of representatives like Barry Loudermilk, he now plans to investigate those officers for wrongdoing—to try to rewrite the history of the insurrection. Utterly, incredibly, unspeakably craven.

Our client @semperwry.bsky.social has written an eloquent piece about why he’s suing to install the plaque honoring the officers of Jan. 6.

In our lawsuit to compel Congress to follow its own law and install a memorial to the officers of Jan. 6, two Jan. 6 defendants have moved to intervene, saying that the memorial should in fact honor them. We have filed our opposition.

So many politicians’ careers completely depend on rewriting the history of Jan. 6—this is a part of that effort.

Also, this new DOJ counselor screamed of police at the Capitol, “Kill ’em! Kill ’em! Kill ’em!”

Right wing populism never—never—delivers for working people. Hawley is going to vote to cut hundreds of billions of dollars in medical benefits for the people he claims to protect.

I'm writing a book about America's private justice system, known as forced arbitration. Here's Jim Jordan defending the industry. The surprising thing is how relatively little money it takes for a business to buy a congressperson's support: in this case, around $13,000.

A Florida judge lobbied for a presidential nomination as he ruled in favor of the president.

This seems like an obvious violation of Florida's code of judicial conduct. Florida lawyers, take note.

This was a point @jamellebouie.net made years ago, but “secret police” doesn’t mean “police no one knows about,” but rather, police unaccountable to the law. That is the purpose of officers hiding in masks without uniforms, badges, or IDs.

FDR was also super catty and funny! Using this as an excuse to post one of my favorites:

Mike Lee, a US Senator, jokes about the assassination of a Democratic politician.

Shameful, and along with the rewriting of January 6, more evidence of a tolerance for political violence by Republican elected officials.

“‘Well, this is very different [from Jan. 6],’ Bondi said Wednesday …. ‘These are people out there hurting people in California right now. This is ongoing.’”

Counterpoint: On Jan. 6, rioters tried to gouge out officers’ eyes…

Trump's use of the word "Insurrectionists" is intentional.

It's an attempt to try to create a false equivalency between the protests in LA and his attempt to overthrow the results of the 2020 election. He wants to rewrite the history of January 6, 2021.

I hope the media won't let him.

The credit card industry is buying ads on Truth Social to protect their artificially high fees.

Paying the president's company to influence an official act...starting to look like bribery under federal law.

The VP suggests deporting opponents of the administration. In addition to being abhorrent, there’s something deeply pathetic about doing this with a meme.

Vance is a man deeply unsure of himself—he lacks an inner confidence.
