Once upon a time there was a family who lost their dog. And they were sad.

And then one day they found a new puppy to love.

Meet Millie.

The time has come to break up with Apple Maps. I'm so disappointed. Not surprised, but disappointed.

This shall be my new default text.

I have survived another week. The horrors persist.

Good: Allergy shots have made it so I don't need daily meds anymore.

Bad: I forgot to take my allergy meds before getting my shot.

(My allergist hooked me up with some Zyrtec though so we're good.)

To borrow from Shakespeare:

Democrats strut and fret their hour upon the stage, but at the end of the day their stories are simply tales told by idiots - full of sound and fury - and signifying nothing.

What are your go-to comfort movies? I feel like I might need some more options to get through the next few years.

One reason the TikTok ban upsets me? It was the only social media app accessible to people with visual impairments without a screen reader.

Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter all require you to be able to read blocks of text. TikTok didn't.

Christmas vacation is over and today was my first day back teaching. So many of my kids told me how happy they were to be back in my class. It’s the best compliment a teacher can get.

102 years ago today, Frederick Banting and Charles Best injected a 14 year old boy dying of diabetic ketoacidosis with pancreatic extract from a dog. Within 24 hours, his blood sugar was almost normal.

Six years ago this month, my son became Type I diabetic. He is alive today thanks to them.

“We told the truth, we obeyed the law, and we kept the peace.” - Walter Mondale

Such simple words with such profound meaning.

It’s my favorite sort of day today - it’s cold, it’s rainy, and since classes start next week I don’t have to go anywhere today. I plan to spend the day with a good book and a nice cup of tea.

I had a rough go in 2023 and 2024 and quit doing a lot of things that made me happy. 2025 is the year I find my joy again and this is my first project of 2025.

As a child, I wanted a life that was exciting and full of surprises. As an adult, I just want a life that's predictable and boring.

I hope 2025 is exceptionally boring. Nothing would make me happier.

Sometimes self-care looks like a pedicure with two of your favorite people.

And sometimes self-care looks like a new tattoo to remind you that you’ve done hard things, and that you’re loved.

Look at these perfect little stitches to a perfect little scarf. My youngest asked me to teach her to knit, and this is her very first project.

My biggest concern at Thanksgiving used to be that the library would be closed for days. I used to check out a huge stack of books and still worry. It felt like one of Dante’s circles of Hell to be stuck at home without a book to read.

Now though, I can get a book with a click in Libby.
