Will figurehead carving classes include enchantments and how to make the figureheads into homes for magical guardian spirits?
Fancy a career change and saving a critically endangered craft or heritage skill from extinction? Have a look at these. I'm currently undecided, but glass eye making and clay pipe making are top of my list! 👁️

Apparently wearing a raspberry beret (the kind you find in a second hand store), this cheeky red-crested, tiny-tongued tessellated serpent features on a mid 4th century #Roman mosaic from Dorchester

Found in Durngate Street in 1905, it's now in @dorsetmuseum.bsky.social

Please check on your disabled friends and neighbours in the path of the tsunami.

Many can’t evacuate without help.

Many are critically dependent on electricity to power wheelchairs, breathing equipment & more.

They can’t flee easily and don’t deserve to be left behind.

This will be fun then follow along. I would love to know if any of the legs of this journey would be accessible for a wheelchair user. Our family has been thinking about Europe by rail from Ireland's West coast 🤔
Dublin to Munich by ferry and train. A live thread 🧵. The journey begins by taking a Dublin bike to the Point. There is a bus that goes to the terminal but I decide to walk along the new Dublin Port Greenway as I have extra time. Walk takes about an hour but it's beautiful.

Brighten your day. Historian rediscovers a pre-Incan method of water storage, gets money to restore the existing structures, and the town he grew up in now has access to water 10 hours a day, up from 1/2 hour per day. The details are v. cool.

I give you the itchiest inhabitants of the Book of Kells, because even in a Gospel, there’s room for a joke.

I'm revisiting Donncha MacGabhann's chapter in 'Medieval Humour: Expressions, Receptions and Functions' and I am having great fun.

Irish currency design was dope, we all know this, but here's one note that never made it into circulation. The £100 Pirate Queen, Grace O'Malley.

(cancelling a high denomination note featuring the image of a smuggler because it might be used in smuggling is very delicious)
